Two juveniles set fires at Early Longhorn Stadium

The Early Police Department began an arson investigation Monday after it was discovered individuals set two fires at Early Longhorn Stadium. The department was contacted by Early High School Athletic Director Blake Sanford who was made aware of burn locations in the stadium by a student who viewed a Snapchat video. Cpl. Brandon McMillian and Detective Billy Bloom began the investigation, which led to the discovery that a group of individuals entered the stadium Sunday at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The juveniles used cardboard and trash to start a small fire on the 50-yard line. The fire damaged a small spot in the turf, causing damage in the amount $25,000, according to a release provided by the police department. The juveniles also started a second, larger fire under the home side bleachers, burning cardboard on top of an aluminum table. The only damage was the burn marks on the table. Both fires were undetected and eventually burned out. A 14 year-old female and 15 year-old male were identified as the suspects.
Evidence, including video proof has been detained and will be presented to the juvenile probation office and county attorney tomorrow to file charges. Both juveniles will be freshman at Early High School.
