Alton Lee Kidd, Jr. age 72 passed from this life on Monday, October 19, 2020 at his home in Brownwood, TX. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th from 6 to 8 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.
Alton was born on Thursday, June 3, 1948 in Coleman, Texas to Alton Lee Kidd, Sr. and Lillie Mae Holder. He graduated from Granada High School in Livermore, CA in 1966. He then went on to join the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers 585th in 1967 where he served in Vietnam. He received a National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Sharpshooter (Rifle) Medal. Alton married Barbara Anne Twitchell on April 12, 1972 in Reno, NV. Their marriage was blessed with two children, James and Amber. Alton worked for Firestone for many years and opened B & L Tire in Early, TX and worked there until he retired in 1997. Alton was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Brownwood. He loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed going fishing, camping and traveling.
Alton is survived by his son, James Kidd and wife Tiffany; daughter, Amber Dudley and husband Robbie; 5 grandchildren, Dewayne Dudley, Lourie Pruett, Cade Patteson, Madison Rhea and Ashlynn Patteson; 2 great aunts and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara in February 2020; his parents; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
