Virginia Faye Shirley, 83, of Brownwood

Virginia Faye Shirley, age 83 of Brownwood, Texas passed from this life to the arms of Jesus on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 8:38 pm at Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.

Services will be Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church of Bangs with Rev. Sally Fleming officiating.  Interment will follow at the V A Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.

Virginia was born September 18, 1937 in Kismet, Kansas to Roy and Maude Ferguson Smith.  She was raised in Kismet and graduated from Kismet High School.  On January 22, 2002 Virginia married Donald Shirley in San Marcos and they celebrated 19 years of marriage.  She has been a resident of Brownwood since 2002 moving from San Marcos.

Virginia was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Bangs and choir member.  She was a member of Lake Brownwood Lions Club, Brownwood Lions Club and American Legion Auxiliary Club of Bangs.  For many years alongside of her husband she loved playing her banjo at musicals around the area.  She also loved gardening and fishing.  She gave of her time humanitarianly through her work at the Santa Anna Food Bank. Virginia worked professionally as a Medical Technician.

2 Daughters – Rhonda Palmer of Brownwood, Texas
Bobbi & husband Jimmy Roach of Austin, Texas
Sister – Barbara Jantzen of Liberal, Kansas
Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren
Virginia was preceded in death by her son Gary Palmer, sister Nadine Wyrick, and brother Zigg Smith
