It’s Time for the Bluebonnet Relays

The well known Bluebonnet Relays, featuring Varsity teams, will get underway Friday morning, March 5, at Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood.  Due to COVID guidelines established by the UIL, no more than eight teams can compete in a meet which has led to the staggered starts.

Class 1 A-3 A schools will begin competing in field events at 9 a.m. and running finals at noon, while the Class 4 A-6 A schools start their field events at 4 p.m. and running finals at 7 p.m.

The small school division at 9:00 am will feature  Bangs, Cherokee, Roscoe, San Saba, Eastland, Whitney and Brady.

Once those teams have cleared from the stadium, the large schools will compete including Brownwood, Brock, Graham, Harker Heights, Killeen High, Lampasas, and Stephenville and that will start at 4 p.m.

Friday’s schedule of events is as follows:

CLASS 1 A-3 A

Bangs, Early, Brady, Cherokee, Eastland, Roscoe, San Saba, Whitney

9 a.m. – 3200 meters

9 a.m. – Field Events

Pit 1 – Girls Triple Jump, Girls Long Jump

Pit 2 – Boys Triple Jump, Boys Long Jump

South High Jump Pit – Boys, Girls

Shot Put Ring 1 – Boys, Girls

Discus Ring 1 – Girls, Boys

Pole Vault Pit 1 – Girls

Pole Vault Pit 2 – Boys

Noon – Running Finals (30 or minutes after completion of field events)

800 meters girls, boys

100-meter hurdles girls

110-meter hurdles boys

4×200 relay girls, boys
