Co. Commissioners Schedule Busy Monday Meeting

Brown County Commissioners will meet Monday, April 5, at 9:00 am in the Commissioner’s Court on the first floor of the Brown County Courthouse.  Among several items on the agenda, Commissioners will consider setting a date for a special Brown County Commissioners Court meeting outside of regular business hours for discussion only regarding possible tax abatement with IP Radian.  The full agenda is below.

1. Declare a Quorum and Call Meeting to Order
2. Prayer-
3. Recognition of Special Guests and Presentations.
4. Citizen Comments (All speakers will be required to adhere to the rules of procedure, conduct and decorum adopted by the Court on August 12, 2019. Any disruptive, abusive, obscene, or disrespectful behavior will be terminated immediately.)
5. Consideration and approval of the minutes from the March 22nd, 2021
6. Consideration and approval of any Treasurer’s/ Auditor’s Report.
7. Consideration and approval of payment of any bills needed.
8. Consideration and approval of all appropriate action regarding the following:

A) Ray West, Consideration and possible action on abandonment and relinquishment of land owned by Brown County, being an alleyway in May, Texas in the J. B. Ford Addition, being approximately 323 x 14 feet, pursuant to section 263.054 of the Texas Local Government Code.
B) Ray West, Consideration and possible action pursuant to sections 272.001 and 263.054 of the Texas Local Government Code to convey an abandoned alley in May, Texas, out of the J. B. Ford Addition to the successor in title of the original developer of that addition.
C. Joel Kelton, Commissioner Pct. 2 – Consideration and possible approval of action regarding burn ban;
D. Lisa Dick, Administrator- Brownwood-Brown County Health Department- Update on COVID 19 response and County health initiatives.
E. Paul Lilly, County Judge- Presentation of Proclamation to declare April as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month.
F. Judy Brownlee, Child Welfare Board- Consideration and possible approval of action to allow pinwheels to be place in front of the Courthouse for Child Prevention and Awareness month.
G. Gary Worley, Commissioner, Pct. ]-Consideration and possible action to set a date for a special Brown County Commissioners Court meeting outside of regular business hours for discussion only regarding possible tax abatement with IP Radian.
H. Paul Lilly, County Judge- Consideration and possible approval to accept Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Judge Jim Cavanaugh’s letter of retirement.
I. Consideration and possible approval to accept applications for appointment to fill the unexpired term of JP 4 and to establish a committee to review and interview applicants and make recommendation to the Commissioners Court.
J. Paul Lilly, County Judge- Consideration and possible approval to accept Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Judge Mike Holder letter of retirement.
K. Consideration and possible approval to accept applications for appointment to fill the unexpired term of JP 2 and to establish a committee to review and interview applicants and make recommendation to the Commissioners Court.
L. Jennifer Robison, Auditor- Consideration and possible approval of action regarding 2020 Year End Financial Statement.
M. Jennifer Robison, Auditor- Consideration and possible approval of action regarding FEMA fund expenditures.
N. Matt Krischke, IT Director- Consideration and possible approval of action regarding partnering with TAC to provide Email and Software services.
O. Wayne Shaw-Commissioner, Pct. 3- Consideration and possible action on an Application to Install a Private Line on CR 350 by Bruce Mateu.
P. Larry Traweek-Commissioner, Pct. 4- Consideration and possible action on an Application to Install a Private Line on CR 156 by the City of Bangs.

9. Executive Session

The Proceeding of the meeting will be as follows:
The Commissioners Court may convene into a closed executive session in the Commissioners Courtroom, pursuant to Section 551.071, 551.087 and 551.129 of the Texas Government Code.

Item 1. Discuss Personnel Issues/ County Surveyor.
Item 2. The Commissioners will reconvene into Special Meeting in the Commissioners Courtroom to take any action deemed necessary as result of the Executive Session.
