County to Receive Applications for JP Positions

Brown County Commissioners on Monday morning, April 5, accepted letters of retirement from Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Jim Cavanaugh and Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Mike Holder.  Cavanaugh’s retirement is effective June 30, 2021.  Holder’s retirement is effect April 30, 2021.

Commissioners voted to approve that applications for appointment to fill the unexpired term of JP 4 be accepted and to establish a committee to review and interview applicants then make recommendations to Commissioner’s Court.  Applications will be accepted until April 23, 2021 at 4:30 pm at the courthouse.  The committee considering applications will be Commissioner Larry Traweek, County Attorney Shane Britton and Precinct 1 JP Doug Hurt.

Commissioners voted to approve that applications for appointment to fill the unexpired term of JP 2 be accepted and to establish a committee to review and interview applicants then make recommendations to Commissioner’s Court.  Applications for Justice of the Peace 2 will be accepted through April 14, 2021 at 4:30 pm.  The committee considering the applications will be Commissioner Joel Kelton, County Attorney Shane Britton and Precinct 1 JP Doug Hurt.
