Las Vegas, Nevada – Sir Bubba Jones, upcoming Brownwood High School Sophomore, recorded a two-day total of 8 birdies and one eagle to win the U.S. PGA Kids Golf Teen Series Invitational Tournament last weekend at Desert Pines Golf Club in Las Vegas.

In 116-degree heat, Jones captured the championship with scores of 70 and 73, for a two-day total of 143 and a four-stroke victory over Daichi Molde, ranked 10th in the 2020 Global Junior Golf Rankings.

By invitation only, this national field of golfers consisted of players age 13 to 18.   Players competing in this multi-day championship tournament were playing for rankings in US Kids Golf Priority Status, AJGA Performance Stars and Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings.

When asked about his barrage of birdies, Sir Bubba Jones smiled and said I needed those birdies to overcome two triple bogeys, a double and two bogeys.

When BHS golf coach, David Jones was told about Jones victory in Las Vegas, he said, “With Bubba and Hudson Reagan, I have a one/two punch on the golf course.  Both Jones and Reagan will be sophomores this fall, and as freshmen, both qualified individually for medalist play at the regional golf tournament.

Prior to the Las Vegas tournament, Jones had won three of his last six outings in the West Texas Junior Champions Tour.  Reagan matched those with three wins of his own.

This summer, Brownwood’s dynamic duo of Jones and Reagan have dominated the West Texas Junior Champions Tour.
