Lions Tennis Team is Victorious over Lake View

The Brownwood High tennis team took care of business Thursday on the home courts by crushing San Angelo Lake View by a count of 18-1.  The Lions improve to 6-2 during Fall tennis.  The Lions and Lady Lions are off until Sept. 9 when they visit Glen Rose in the District 6-4A opener.

The Lady Lions swept all nine of their matches, starting with three doubles wins by the No. 1 team of Aishwayra Nigayle and Tatum Dehart (6-1, 6-0 over Analeah Zamarron and Gabbie Flores), the No. 2 duo of Emma Delgado and Raylei Hickey (6-1, 6-1 over Liz Mota and Kim Toscano), and the No. 3 tandem of Claire Meinecke and Lyric Shaw (6-1, 6-1 over Samantha Perez and Tamzin Marker).

In singles action, girls collecting victories were No. 1 Victoria Ramos (6-0, 6-0 over Zamarron), No. 2 Nigayle (6-1, 6-2 over Flores), No. 3 Dehart (6-2, 6-1 over Mota), No. 4 Madalyn Scull (6-2, 6-2 over Toscano), No. 5 Delgado (6-1, 6-0 over Marker), and No. 6 Hickey (6-0, 6-0 over Perez)

On the boys side, the Lions went undefeated in singles competition with triumphs earned by No. 1 Peter Le (6-4, 7-5 over Erik Ruiz), No. 2 Dillon Gatlin (6-0, 6-4 over Luke Hartin), No. 3 Nathan Ramos (4-6, 6-3, 10-3 over Freddie Saucedo), No. 4 River Prado (6-0, 6-3 over Chase Daniel), No. 5 Taylor Wallace (6-1, 6-0 over Seth Rangel), and No. 6 Eric Waldrop (6-4, 6-3 over Keirdan Sherman).

The Lions added two doubles wins from No. 2 team Prado and Taevion Nickerson (6-3, 6-2 over Saucedo and Daniel) and No. 3 duo Waldrop and Wesley Goodrich (7-5, 6-0 over Rangel and Jaidan Albia).

Brownwood also earned the mixed doubles victory, claimed by Le and Ramos (6-0, 6-0 over Sherman and Adamaris Rangel).
