Darell DeWayne D.D “Tex” Wright, 79, of Santa Anna

Darell DeWayne D.D “Tex” Wright, age 79, of Santa Anna, died Monday, January 10, 2022, at Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

The family will host a visitation from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday January 14th, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

Services will be held Saturday January 15th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cleveland Church of Christ with Jack Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in the Cleveland Cemetery between Santa Anna and Trickham on FM 1176. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

Tex was born September 27, 1942, in Santa Anna Texas to Audrey Mae and Thomas Doyle Wright and lived in Santa Anna for most of his life. He attended Santa Anna schools and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a radio operator stationed in Germany. He drove a truck and worked in the oil fields around Santa Anna for many years and later was an independent insurance inspector. He served many years as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 230 in Santa Anna. Tex was named the Santa Anna Citizen of the Year in 2000. He also served as the Coleman County Historical Commission Chairman and enjoyed the history of his beloved Coleman County. He enjoyed taking photos of people and places around Coleman County. Tex was a member of the Cleveland Church of Christ. On August 15th, 1969, he married the love of his life Patsy in Rockwall, Texas, and they celebrated 52 years of marriage together.

Tex is survived by his wife Patsy of Santa Anna, Texas; stepdaughter Danna Smith and husband Bill of Hale Center, Texas; stepson James Pelton and wife Cindy of Santa Anna, Texas; stepdaughter Alys Ellis and husband Earl of Santa Anna, Texas.

Also surviving are his sisters Clara Gibson and husband Bill of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Judy Chambers and husband Phil of Coleman, Texas; and his brother Lynn Wright and wife Jerry of Mason, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Stephanie Turner of San Antonio, Texas, Chrystal Pelton of Santa Anna, Texas, Jennifer Rambo and husband Josh of Santa Anna, Texas, Brittany Sparks and husband Kyle of Fredericksburg, Texas, Jessica Cheaney and husband Chris of Round Rock, Texas, Sarah Taylor and husband TJ of Santa Anna, Texas, and Tommy Ellis of Santa Anna Texas.

Eleven great grandchildren: Jayden, Dawson, and Jolie Rambo of Santa Anna, Texas, Bridget Perkins and Xander Turner of San Antonio, Texas, Alyssa and Trey Taylor of Santa Anna, Texas, Tucker and Tanner Sparks of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Luke Kerr, Maggie and Anna Cheaney of Round Rock, Texas; and one great-great grandchild Kyson Rambo of Santa Anna, Texas.
