Eugenia Amparo Gutierrez, age 97, of Brady, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at her residence in Brady.  Eugenia was born December 21, 1924 in Aguita, Coahuila, Mexico to Miguel Garcia and Manuella (Falcon) Garcia.  After high school she attended college and earned her degree in Home Economics.  She moved to Brady in 1946 where she met a young man named Fidel Gutierrez.  They were married a few months later on August 31, 1946 in Brady.  She was a professional seamstress for many years.  She owned and operated the Casa Gutierrez Restaurant (where the Sr. Citizens Sunset Center in located now) in Brady for 17 years.  She retired in 1980, known as the “Best Cook in Brady”.  She was a woman of faith and always gave a blessing to anyone leaving her home.  She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and a member of the Guadalupanas.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Eugenia Amparo Gutierrez will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brady with Father Terry Brenon officiating.  Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and the Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady.  Friends may view Eugenia’s Memorial Video Tribute and/or sign her online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com.

Pallbearers will be Lance “Cha Chi” Gutierrez, Dr. Matthew Gutierrez, Max Gutierrez, Mitchell Gutierrez, Pete Sanchez and Nick Garcia.

Eugenia Gutierrez is survived by her sons Fidel Gutierrez of Brady, Texas and Joe Gutierrez of Brady, Texas; daughters Elva Sanchez and husband Pedro of Early, Texas, Belinda Garcia and husband Juan of Austin, Texas and Mary Gutierrez of Brady, Texas; daughter-in-law Mary Ann Gutierrez of Brady, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Mike Gutierrez, grandson Michael Gutierrez, brothers Reymundo Garcia and Miguel Garcia and sister Bertha Garcia.  Memorial contributions in memory of Eugenia Amparo Gutierrez may be made to Hope from the Heart, P.
