Virginia Villegas, 82, of Coleman

Virginia Villegas, age 82, of Coleman, died Wednesday, June 29, 2022, in Abilene with her family by her side.

The family will host a time of visitation and reflection from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Recital of the Holy Rosary will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 303 W. College Avenue, in Coleman with Very Reverend Adam Droll from Holy Family Catholic Church officiating and assisted by Msgr. Frederick Nawarskas. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.

Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

She was born Virginia Dela Rosa on January 24, 1940, to Nolberto Dela Rosa and Simona Martinez Dela Rosa. Virginia grew up in Coleman and attended school in Burkett. She married Robert Villegas on January 10, 1959, in Plainview, Texas. With this union, five children were born. Virginia and Robert relocated to Coleman in 1975 where they have made their home ever since.

Virginia worked in housekeeping, the local dry cleaners, and Stemple Manufacturing. Her true calling was being a caregiver to her family and friends. She had the kindest heart and overflowing generosity when it came to caring for others. Virginia was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coleman and was a member of the Guadalupana Society. Virginia also enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participate in their sporting activities. Her most favorite past time was dancing with the love of her life, Robert. She leaves behind an amazing legacy for her family to live by. Her home was always open for those who needed a place to stay or a meal to eat.

Preceding Virginia in death are her parents, Nolberto and Simona Dela Rosa; two sisters, Lupe Luna and Isabel Quiroz; and two brothers, Robert Dela Rosa, Sr. and Arturo Dela Rosa, Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Villegas of Coleman; her children, Joe Villegas of Abilene, Cindy Villegas of Coleman, Charlie Villegas of Coleman, Mickey Holloway and husband Richard of Abilene, and Amanda Villegas of Abilene; her extended children, Armando Garcia and wife Dottie, Joe Bruner, Jesus Trejo, and Sandro Trejo; her grandchildren, Leah Barnes and husband Matt, Bridget Gilbreath and husband Willie, Darrell “Boy” Wilkins, Jr. and wife Felisha, Ashley Villegas, C.J. Villegas and wife Kourtney, Monique Holloway, Shaley Villegas and husband Angel Ambriz, Leslie Tonche, Raul Villarreal, Lindsey Villegas, Elyssia Esquivel, Emily Esquivel, McKenna Esquivel, and Miranda Esquivel; her great-grandchildren, Brendon Gilbreath, Brooklyn Gilbreath, Brylei Gilbreath, Tynlee Wilkins, Lincoln Wilkins, Rowynn Wilkins, Pearsyn Wilkins, Blaze Villegas, Malakai Villegas, Azakai Villegas, Daimund Jordan, Dakota Jordan, Kyler Joe Villegas, Ivan Peña, Liliana Peña, Lizbeth Tonche, Issac Peña, Adam Peña, Jr., Kamden Villarreal, Slade Villarreal, Krislynn Macias, C.J. Macias, Zaelee Macias, and Enzo Esquivel.

Pallbearers will be Darrell “Boy” Wilkins, Jr., C.J. Villegas, Matt Barnes, Willie Gilbreath, Angel Ambriz, Brendon Gilbreath, Blaze Villegas, and Kyler Joe Villegas. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Dela Rosa, Bobby Dela Rosa, Claudio Garcia, Jr., James Garcia, Nolberto Garcia, Simon Garcia, and Cecil Dela Rosa.
