Judy Lewallen, age 84, long-time San Angelo resident, died in Cocoa, Florida on September 4, 2022.
Her family will host a visitation at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas on Saturday, September 17 from 2-3 pm.
After the visitation, a service will be held at 3:30 pm in the chapel.
Private interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Judith Diann Marie Roberts on January 10, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of Elmer O. and Lenore Brandt Roberts. As a child, she moved with her family to San Angelo where she graduated from high school in 1955. Judy received an Associate degree from San Angelo College and also attended Texas Tech in Lubbock. She met a handsome soldier in San Angelo who had just returned from Korea. He was originally from Coleman. On September 5, 1958 she married Glenn Lewallen in San Angelo and they celebrated 53 years of marriage prior to his passing on September 18, 2011.
Judy worked for General Telephone for several years as well as the San Angelo Independent School District for a few years. She worked in the office of Anchor Serum, the company where her husband was an employee, manager and part owner. She was an active member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo and First Baptist Church in Merritt Island, FL. Judy enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs, The Newcomers Club, Book Club and Red Hats. She was a leader for Community Bible Study in San Angelo. Five years ago, she moved to Florida to be closer to family. There she got to live on the water, swim on a regular basis, play in various bridge clubs, and make many new friends from all over the country.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Acree, of Colorado and Nan Fleming of Cocoa, Florida; four grandchildren, Will Doyle (wife Erin), Claire Doyle, Aaron Fleming (wife Jenna) and Austin Fleming, 5 great grandchildren, one sister, Bette Jo Stiles of San Angelo; one brother, Richard Roberts of San Angelo, and several special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Ann Hunsaker.
Judy was a diligent student, a dutiful daughter, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, a loyal and dedicated wife, an appreciated friend and an inspirational Christian.
