Gary Med Richards, age 71, of Palestine, Texas, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, the 2nd day of December 2022. Gary was born in Bronte, Texas on the 6th day of November 1951, to parents Sam Richards and Peggy Watts Richards.
Gary was a faithful Christian member of Grace Bible Church in Grapeland, Texas. He had a love for his family and friends that was undeniable. Gary knew how to put a smile on your face, and he had a larger-than-life personality with a warped sense of humor. He was also a patient and caring man. Gary loved the great outdoors and enjoyed dove hunting. Gary retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a truck driver. Gary was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents Sam and Peggy Richards and his brother, Dean Myrick.
Left to cherish Gary’s memories are his loving wife of forty-five years, Shelli Richards; daughter, Angela Douglas and husband Clayton of Elkhart, Texas; son, Gary Med Richards, II, and wife Candice of Montalba, Texas; brother Sid Richards and wife Donna of Lake Brownwood, Texas; grandchildren, Trent Douglas, Hunter Douglas, Kimber Douglas, Justice Douglas, Addy Richards, Katie Richards, Maisy Richards; great grandchildren; Maddox Douglas, Sam Douglas, and Tatum Gray. He is also survived by a host of family and friends.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 9th day of December 2022 at Rhone Funeral Home.
A funeral service to celebrate Gary Richard’s life is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 10th day of December 2022 at Evangelistic Temple with Bro. David Barnham and Bro. Don Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Park.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Trent Douglas, Hunter Douglas, Clayton Douglas, Shane Richards, Shaylor Richards, Shawn Parker, Dwight Munoz, and L.D. Anderson. Honorary pallbearers include Earnie Wolf, Jimmy Pryor, Gary Hennessee, Alan Westmoreland, Phillip Castillo, and Charlie Hutcherson.
