In 1965 he transferred to the Soil Conservation Services in Spur and was deemed the Most Outstanding Conservation Planning Technician in the Spur Work Unit.

On March 4, 1967 his blessing continued with the birth of his daughter, Scharla Renea Hoffman. He then moved to Brownwood, Texas and started a custom hay hauling business that changed the way hay was hauled with a pickup and trailer and many other farmers quickly adopted this method because of its success. In 1973 he moved over 92,000 square bales of hay which was an exceptional accomplishment at that time.

He married Rosa Calhoun and enjoyed many years together at the farm in Talpa. In 1980 he formed Eagle Express Trucking and had as many as four trucks operating, hauling livestock feed and plastic products all over the United States. He traveled through 38 states which allowed him to experience many places, activites and sights that could only have been done from a truck.
In 1998 he incorporated a farming and ranching operation with Barbara Simmons of Santa Anna. She became his life partner and provided him with some of the best years of his life. They started a commercial calf-cow operation that grew to 50 head of excellent cows. Through the years, outstanding ranching accomplishments were achieved in both the Santa Anna and Talpa farms. He partnered with his son on the Talpa farm to start a commercial herd of boer goats that numbered up to as many as 200 nannies. Their goat accomplishments were having 30 show ribbons and exporting some groups to Canadian universities to they could work on developing better boer goat herds.
