Catherene Emagene Wright Davis, 81, of Brownwood Texas passed away on May 23, 2023, after a recent illness.
As it was her wish to be cremated, a private memorial service for her family will be held at a later date.
Emagene was born on April 24, 1942, in Ropesville Texas to Virgil Lee Wright and Violet (Robertson) Wright. Being the first of 8 children, she helped to raise her siblings, so she was like a second mom to them. Emagene grew up picking cotton to help the family make ends meet.
Emagene graduated from Ropesville High School in 1961. After attending a business school, she married Clarence Davis in 1962. During their marriage, they operated several businesses at Lake Brownwood Texas including the Ponderosa Lodge and later Lakeshore Lodge.
She had a variety of different jobs throughout her life, but she really enjoyed the years she worked at Tarleton State University in the registrar’s office. She was happy to help students plan their graduate program to achieve their life goals. While she lived in Stephenville Texas, she was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Emagene was also a member of the Texas Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid reader and liked working puzzle books. And she always enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Emagene is survived by her two sons, Scotty Davis and wife Melissa of Brownwood Texas, and Buck Davis of Brownwood Texas; sister, Joan Smith and husband Joe of Levelland Texas; brother, Steve Wright and wife Nancy of Morton Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert Eugene Davis; sisters, Joice Davis, and Erma Wright; and brothers, Raymond Wright, Vernon Wright, and Walter Wright.
