Dawn Hill-Flesner, age 47, pled guilty to capital murder today for the murder of 9 year old HardiQuinn Hill.

According to a press release from the Office of District Attorney Micheal Murray:

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Judge Smith sentenced Hill-Flesner to life with no possibility of parole. Hill-Flesner also waived all rights to appeal her conviction as part of the agreement. The plea gives immediate finality to the family for this particular defendant and will now shift focus on the remaining defendant.

Law enforcement and medical personnel responded to a medical emergency on August 22, 2022 and discovered HardiQuinn’s death. Hill-Flesner was later charged with capital murder for the death of Hardi Quinn along with Hill-Flesner’s partner, Jamie Anderson.

Jamie Anderson’s capital murder charge, and several other felony charges, are still pending in the 35th District Court, wherein the death penalty has not been waived.

District Attorney Micheal Murray said that although he strongly supports capital punishment, several factors led to quick resolution of Dawn Hill-Flesner’s case for life without parole. Murray focused on providing the best possible outcome for HardiQuinn’s surviving brother who is the biological child of Hill-Flesner and considering the wishes of Hardi Quinn’s family.

Murray said, “Although the final decision on justice for our community is my responsibility as the District Attorney, the needs of surviving victims and other family members are an important consideration. The need to protect a young child from suffering more through a trial of his biological mother was a critical factor in reaching this decision to accept Hill-Flesner’s plea to life without the possibility of parole.”

The District Attorney would also like to thank the tireless efforts of the Brownwood Police Department for their thorough and heartfelt investigation of the case. Murray would also like to thank his staff for all their hard work, and all other offices that assisted in this case. Murray also greatly appreciated the cooperation, assistance, and support from the victim’s remaining family.
