Lady Lions score nine runs in the 7th inning to complete district sweep of Glen Rose, 13-1

GLEN ROSE – The Brownwood Lady Lions completed a District 6-4A softball sweep of Glen Rose Friday with a 13-1 road victory.

The Lady Lions (13-9, 3-3) also evened their league mark as they began the second half of 6-4A competition with a nine-run seventh inning that put the game out of reach.

Brownwood struck for a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, then added single runs in the fourth and sixth frames to carry a 4-0 edge into its final at-bat.

The Lady Lions finished with 11 hits, sparked by four – including a triple and two doubles – from Hanah Campos, who recorded three RBIs. Kayden Allen chipped in a pair of hits and drove in three as well. Carlee Burks, Chloe Walls, Lila Mares, Jakayla Peek and Neveah Perez each contributed one hit and one RBI.

Burks and Peek also walked twice, as Brownwood drew six free passes, while the Glen Rose defense committed five errors.

In the circle, Allen limited Glen Rose (14-11, 1-5) to one run in the bottom of the seventh inning on five hits with 13 strikeouts and three walks.

The Lady Lions next host Mineral Wells (15-8, 2-4) – which is coming off a 10-0 loss to Brock (21-0-2, 6-0) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. In the other 6-4A softball game Friday, Stephenville (11-12-1, 3-3) defeated Graham (8-13, 3-3) by a 7-3 count, creating a three-way tie for second place with Brownwood.
