BISD Elementary Students Compete in Academic Challenge

The district academic competition was held on May 26, 2026, at the BISD Central Support Center and provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate academic excellence in a competitive setting.

Students from the four elementary campuses participated in grade-level contests designed to challenge spelling and mathematical abilities.

The Spelling Contest allowed participants in grades 2-5 to compete against peers within their own grade. The competition included two components: a written test followed by a written tie-breaker round, if necessary. All UIL spelling contest rules and scoring procedures were followed throughout the event, and students were reminded that all written responses must be legible for scoring purposes.

The Math Sprints competition focused on multiplication fluency for students in grades 3–5. The contest consisted of two separate rounds, Sprint A and Sprint B, with each round lasting exactly 60 seconds. Students worked to accurately complete as many multiplication problems as possible within the time limit, emphasizing both speed and precision under pressure.

The academic challenge showcased student dedication, academic growth, and perseverance while also promoting a healthy competition amongst the BISD elementary campuses. Each campus sent the top 2 winners in each grade level for both spelling and math to compete at the district level. The BISD first place winners left with a trophy in each division. The top 3 winners in each division earned a brag tag and are all listed below:
