
Santos Sammie Espitia an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all passed to the arms of Jesus on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at the Hendrick Hospice in Abilene, Texas.
She was born into the loving arms of her parents Pedro and Dominga Gonzales Diaz on November 1, 1946 in Santa Anna, Texas. Sammie was raised in Santa Anna experiencing the small town life she grew to love and where she attended Santa Anna Schools.
On May 13, 1965 Sammie married her best friend and love of her life Luciano Enrique Espitia and they celebrated fifty five years of marriage bringing 10 beautiful and spirited lives into this world which they adored and challenged in their upbringing. Luciano preceded Sammie in death in 2020.
Following their marriage in 1965 they moved their home to Coleman where they have since resided. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of the Guadalupana Society and Sacred Heart Spanish Choir. Sammie gave many years of support how ever needed to her church and congregation.
She was a homemaker taking care of her husband and children and loved working in her garden especially with her beautiful roses.

Sammie was preceded in death by 2 sons Johnny Alfred Espitia & Luciano Enrique Espitia, Jr.; Father & Mother Pedro and Dominga Diaz; Balentine Diaz; Bictorino Diaz; Virginia Ponce; Reyes Diaz, Jesse Diaz; Joe Diaz; Isaabel Quiroz; Ofelia Vela; Guadalupe Diaz; Elisa Diaz
Rosary and visitation will be held Thursday at 6:00pm at Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:0am with Celebrant Father Thomas Kalambadan.
