Details released on multi vehicle accident

DPS has released some details regarding Saturday’s multiple vehicle accident on Highway 67, just west of Brownwood. DPS Trooper Tyler Moses said the first call was received at approximately 7:30. The caller stated the driver of a Mitsubishi Galant was driving recklessly, travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes. Witnesses to the events said several vehicles barely missed the Galant, with two vehicles being run off the road. A Ford F-150 was hit by the Mitsubishi near the top of the Bangs Hill. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the Galant to be overturned with the 26 year-old female driver in serious condition. After extraction, it was discovered the driver could not be careflighted due to the extent of her injuries and was instead transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center, where she was stabilized and flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. It is unknown at this time how many vehicles were affected by this chain of events. Several reported to have suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Galant is currently in critical condition. DPS is still investigating what caused the driver of the Galant to be driving on the wrong side of the highway.
