The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a range and brush management program beginning at 4 p.m., July 7 at the Brown County Fairgrounds, 4206 U.S. Highway 377.
We have had a really wet spring so most pastures are covered in weeds, many of which are toxic to livestock. Unwanted brush species continue to encroach and take over good grazing land. Some of leading specialists in the state will be making presentations. So if you have questions concerning weeds, brush control, cattle insect pest management, or aquatic weed control in your farm pond don’t miss this opportunity.
Topics and speakers include:
- Toxic Weeds, Dr. Robert Lyons, AgriLife Extension Range Specialist, Uvalde, Texas
- Controlling Weeds in Farm Ponds, Peter Woods, AgriLife Extension Program Specialist, Bay City, Texas
- Weed and Brush Herbicides, Ralph Porter, Dow AgroSciences, Abilene, Texas
- Mistakes with Range Herbicides, Dr. Morgan Russell, AgriLife Extension Specialist, San Angelo, Texas
- Pesticide Laws and Regulations, Scott Anderson, County Extension Agent Ag & Natural Resources, Brown County
Six (6) Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units, two laws and regulations, one integrated pest management, and three general will be offered to licensed pesticide applicators. For more information or to RSVP, call the AgriLife Extension Office in Brown County at 646-0386.
