During the meeting of the Brownwood City Council this morning, City Manager Emily Crawford said the Lehnis Railroad Museum will soon have an additional feature. Museum Arts Inc., a museum design firm in Dallas was contacted by museum director Beverly Norris as a consultant on creation and fabrication of a new exhibit entitled “Working on the Railroad”. The exhibit will occupy the entry wall of the museum and will be a permanent display to greet visitors when they arrive. All funds to create an install the exhibit have been raised through grants and personal donations. No city funds will be used to complete the project.
The council also approved a proposal from engineering firm Jacob Martin for professional services to convert the city’s graphics and database into the current industry standard. Jacob Martin will also host a Web site for three years which will show the city’s data, which will include ownership, subdivisions, water, sewer, storm sewer, zoning and other information. The site will link to the Brown County Appraisal District for the most up to date information on property ownership. After three years, the city can continue with Jacob Martin for web hosting. The total cost of the conversion and web hosting will be roughly $23,000.
In other business, the council, on first reading approved the recommendation of the installation of a stop sign and pavement markings in the Calvert Road and Milam Drive area, which was recently constructed to form a “T” intersection. The council also approved a logo for the newly formed Brownwood Municipal Development District and approved a vote for Mayor Stephen Haynes to be selected as a representative for Region 6 on the Texas Municipal League Board of Trustees.
