Intoxicated woman assaults Early Police Officer

Corporal Michelle Sheedy with the Early Police Department responded to a disturbance Thursday at approximately 1:15 a.m. in the 300 block of Grandview Drive. Sheedy determined no violence was occurring, but an intoxicated female, identified as Lindsey Anne South continue to be verbally abusive. As Sheedy was speaking with the other parties involved, South attempted to go back into the residence. As Sheedy was attempting to stop her, South began swinging at Sheedy, striking her in the chest and arms. Sheedy was forced to take South to the ground. South was transported to the Brown County Jail and charged with assault of a public servant.

In a separate incident Thursday, the Early Police and Fire Departments responded to Premier High School regarding a reported fire call with smoke in the building. The school was being evacuated and all students found shelter from the weather in a neighboring building. The fire department noted the source was an electrical problem with the heater. Oncor, along with a private electrician responded and began addressing the issue. All students were sent home for the day. Smoke was ventilated out and minimal damage was done to the building.
