‘Dangerous drugs’ located during traffic stop

Deputies with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office have been busy during the Christmas holiday. The following are a couple of the incidents dealt with:

 

**Deputy Shade Tidwell stopped a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am at approximately 11 p.m. on Dec. 23 for driving without headlights in the 100 block of Early Blvd. The driver was identified as Steve Jackson, according to his Tennessee driver’s license. The passengers were identified as Leah Vann, Shawn Ales, Jacob Sanders and another adult female. After consent to search the vehicle was granted, Tidwell located several narcotic-related contraband materials. Ales was charged with possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, less and one gram and possession of marijuana, less than two ounces. Sanders was charged with possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, less than one gram. Vann was charged with possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 3, more than 28 grams and possession of a dangerous drug, which was identified as 279.5 (5 mg) Prednisone pills. Jackson was also charged with possession of a dangerous drug. Tidwell later determined Jackson provided his brother’s identification. Jackson was identified as Dustin Jackson, who was discovered to have an arrest warrant out of Mississippi on drug related charges. Jackson was also charged with failure to identify-fugitive from justice.

** Cpl Joe Thomas was dispatched to County Road 291 in reference to burglary of a habitation. The complainant informed Thomas that over the last three weeks, an unknown person(s) had stolen six firearms, two compound bows, three gold chains and a dirt bike. Two possible suspects were named.
