Businesses report counterfeit bills

Within the last 48 hours, the Brownwood Police Department have been called to three businesses after receiving reports of counterfeit bills. The businesses affected by the fake currency were Allsup’s, Food Plaza and Little Caesar’s Pizza. Different businesses are being targeted and Brownwood Assistant Police Chief James Fuller is encouraging employees to immediately contact law enforcement if a phony bill is passed.
Law enforcement also dealt with the following incidents:
* Responded to a call on 2nd St regarding the theft of a generator.
* Responded to Avenue B regarding an assault. After a foot chase, officers arrested Nikita Marie Martinez for assault causing bodily injury, public intoxication and escape from custody.
