Deputy Toby Mathis was dispatched to the Brown County Jail after a report that an inmate had become combative and attacked three jailers. Mathis, along with several deputies and jail staff were able to get the inmate under control. During the struggle, a jailer was injured and the inmate, identified as Grady Staton had to be tased several times. Staton and the jailer were transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center and were cleared by staff.
In other incidents:
• Deputy Hopson responded to County Road 606 in regards to harassment. A female victim stated she had been receiving vulgar voicemails. According to the report, the suspect is the complainant’s daughter.
• Deputy Fletcher performed a traffic stop on a green Buick car on Hwy 183 at FM 2273. The driver, identified as Sheryl Scott, was arrested for Felony DWI, third or more.
• Deputy Tidwell was dispatched to the area of Hwy 279 N and FM 2940 in reference to a suspicious female walking on the highway. The female was located at the intersection of Hwy 279 N and CR 411. The woman, identified as Michelle Lee Weaver, was arrested for public intoxication.
