Early voting continues today and Tuesday for races in three Brown County cities. To cast an early vote, visit the Brown County Elections Office, located at 613 N. Fisk from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Through the first full week of early voting, which ended Friday 146 total votes were cast between the three municipalities. Twenty-three voted in the Bangs mayoral race, 49 in the Blanket School Board races and 74 in the Early mayoral and city council races.

Election day will be this Saturday. On election day, those casting a ballot in the Bangs mayoral race will vote at the Bangs First Baptist Church, located at 401 2nd St. Blanket residents voting for school board will head to the Blanket ISD Cafeteria and those casting a ballot for the Early mayoral and city council races will vote at the Early Chamber of Commerce, located at 104 E. Industrial Drive.

For the first time in 12 years, incumbent Early mayor Robert Mangrum will be challenged. Running for mayor against Mangrum are Sean Fulton and Frankie Wilder. Two council seats are also up for election in Early. The seats of incumbents Joel Johnson and Janice Bush are up for election. Bush did not re-file, but Johnson did. The other challengers in that race are Travis Eoff, Noah Williams and Amy Beam. In Bangs, incumbent mayor Eric Bishop will be challenged by former mayor and current council member Carrol Wells. In Blanket, there will be no contested races on the city council. However, on the Blanket School Board, Place 2 Incumbent Mary Wilson will be challenged by Janis Kincaid and in Place 1, incumbent Steve Schulze will be challenged by Angela Dozier.
