Local students to meet with scientists from around the world

The Brownwood Garden Club is helping a local student who is looking towards a career in horticulture. The club extended a scholarship to Howard Payne University junior Andrea Balderas to attend the upcoming American Botanical Society National Convention in June. Balderas, who works for HPUs Department of Biological Sciences will have the opportunity to meet with scientists from all over the world during the conference.

The Botanical Crossroads Conference is being held in Fort Worth this year. While at the conference, Balderas will study native ferns of Texas as well as tour the Botanical Research Institute in the metroplex.
