Another election has come and gone and after the votes were counted, residents in three Brown County municipalities chose incumbents to stay in office. In Early, incumbent mayor Robert Mangrum retained his seat after receiving 130 votes. Challenger Sean Fulton received 79 votes while Frankie Wilder received 18. Mangrum was declared the winner by taking 57.3% of the vote. This will be Mangrum’s seventh term as mayor. Two seats were open on the Early City Council. Newcomer Travis Eoff received 144 votes, with incumbent Joel Johnson retaining his seat with 117 votes. Other challengers in that race, Amy Bean and Noah Williams received 98 and 28 votes respectively.
In Bangs, incumbent mayor Eric Bishop will begin his fourth term after defeating current council member and former mayor Carrol Wells. Bishop received 85 votes to Wells’ 68 votes. Due to no opposition, Waymond Sheppard retained his seat on the Bangs City Council and new to the council will be Danny Marney who also ran unopposed. Former council member Marisa Craddock is back on the council, running unopposed for the unexpired term of Larry Lohman, who resigned after moving outside city limits.
In the Blanket School Board races, Place 1 Incumbent Steve Schulze defeated challenger Angela Dozier by a count of 146-106 and in Place 2, incumbent Mary Wilson retained after defeating Janis Kincaid 134-115. All three entities will canvass the votes and their upcoming meetings.
