UPDATED: Large scale drill set for this week

This Wednesday, June 21, BISD personnel and volunteers will participate in a wide-ranging Emergency Response Drill in conjunction with the Brownwood Police Department and Emergency Response teams. The drill will be staged at the Brownwood Middle School and will entail numerous law enforcement, emergency response, and BISD personnel and vehicles.  The Brownwood Police Department has developed several emergency scenarios that will play out in real time, utilizing BISD personnel, volunteers, local law enforcement personnel, emergency response personnel, and BRMC employees.

Working together, representatives from all of these entities will walk through the actions necessary for the appropriate response to several emergency situations, allowing the needed review of emergency procedures and plans in place to provide the proper care for our students, faculty and staff.  The public may see numerous emergency vehicles and personnel at the BMS and BHS campuses on July 21.   Please do not be alarmed, as the drill is carefully planned for training use only.

Additionally, BISD school buses and personnel will be seen moving between campuses and the hospital.  The drill requires this movement and again should not be perceived as a real emergency.  All movement that day will be indicative of only the drill planned. A thorough review of the drill will be conducted by each entity involved, allowing for the refinement of plans and procedures if needed to assure the most efficient and effective plans are in place for our children’s well-being.  If anyone has questions regarding the planned drill, call 643-5644.
