Two recall being in NYC during the events of 9/11

Victory Life Church and Academy held a 9/11 remembrance ceremony this morning to remember those who died 16 years ago today as well as honor local law enforcement, firefighters, EMS personnel and current and retired military. The guest speakers were long time law enforcement chaplain Dave Fair and local resident Joshua Peguero who lived in New York City at the time the events of that day unfolded.

Fair stressed the point of the importance of the role of first responders on 9/11. Fair said that although the loss of more than 3,000 was tragic, first responders as well as other heroes worked to save thousands of more lives.

Peguero told those in attendance that although the day seemed like a blur, he remembered seeing clouds “mushrooming” into the air and people walking around and bleeding as they attempted to escape the chaos.

Both speakers noted the importance of never forgetting what happened that day, 16 years ago.

The conclusion of the ceremony saw all first responders being recognized.
