Violence against family leads to 10-year prison sentence

District attorney Micheal Murray reported that two felony cases were recently heard in Brown/Mills County District Court with Judge Stephen Ellis presiding. Those sentenced were:

• Johnny Blanchard Williamson pled not guilty to the felony offense of continuous violence against the family at the beginning of a bench trial. The court, after hearing evidence from the both the state and the defendant found Williamson guilty. He was sentenced to 10 years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.

• Dorothy Mazell Schaeffer pled guilty to the felony offense of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 11 months, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, State Jail Division.
