On 12-30-2017 at approximately 1:11 p.m., the Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of three unresponsive individuals in a cargo trailer that was used to sleep in at a deer camp near Bangs.
It was determined that there were two propane heaters inside the trailer with one of them in use. There was not sufficient ventilation which caused the individuals to succumb to what investigators believe to be carbon monoxide poisoning.
The individuals have been identified as:
John Glass Sr., 69 of Brownwood
Bryan Glass, 41 of Temple
Cody Glass, 13 of Troy
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office would like to take the time during this tragic event to urge residents to put smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in place in their residences. If you use propane heaters in your deer blind or other out buildings, use caution and insure there is proper ventilation.
Signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning may include dull headache, weakness, dizziness, nausea or vomiting, shortness of breath, confusion, blurred vision and loss of consciousness.
If anyone else begins to experience these symptoms, move them to fresh air and seek medical treatment.
