The Ark Domestic Violence Shelter (The Ark), is getting ready to host their annual Mystery Dinner and Dance on February 10th, 2018 at the Grand Starz Lodge. This year’s theme will be Tragedy at the Tavern, and the event will feature a catered meal provided by The Diamond R Café, music and fun by GOBO Entertainment, a silent and live auction, and of course some good ol’ murder mystery written by Brownwood’s own Larry Mathis.
According to Sharon Cook, The Ark’s Financial Director, we have some “incredible items” up for auction this year including: a dove hunt, buck harvests, gift certificates for manicures and massages, a fire pit, an electrofishing survey, Fossil Rim Scenic Wildlife drive, art work, jewelry, a rifle and much more. Sharon said she couldn’t tell everything that would be up for auction because The Ark wants to leave a little mystery, but she did mention that they had two trips to be auctioned, one to Las Vegas and the other to New York.
“We wouldn’t be able to do the work we do without the help from our community businesses and members that have come together to show support of this event”, Terri Densman, Executive Director for The Ark said of this year’s sponsors. This year’s sponsors include Citizens National Bank, Ryan Construction, Comanche County Medical Center, Kohler, First Travel Services, Runaway Train, Athena Bean, Big Country Ford, Western Bank, This Ol House, Texas Bank, Taylor Clinic, Sonic Drive-in, Roberson Rent-All, Prosperity Bank, Mr. Taxi, KYOX, John and Denise Sommer/Howard and Maria Berg, Holland Hauling, Elliot Electric, Densman Consulting, Bostic Auto and Truck Sales, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, 1Source Technical Solutions, and Andy’s Pest Control.
All proceeds raised will support The Ark and their work with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The Ark Domestic Violence Shelter serves a tri-county area of Brown, Coleman, and Comanche. The Ark would like the community to come out on February 10th, 2018 to the Grand Starz Lodge and help show their support for victims in our community. Tickets can be purchased in advanced by calling 325-643-2699 or by stopping by their Admin office located at 2900 Coggin Ave, Ste A , Brownwood.
