After complaints from residents in the area and others in the community, several law enforcement agencies teamed up Tuesday morning to conduct a “no-knock” search warrant on a home in the 1600 block of 4th St.
Brown County Sheriff Vance Hill said that although only one suspect was named in the warrant, Acey Sliger, a total of five individuals were arrested. Hill said this particular bust was exciting. “If you turn around, the Boys and Girls Club is right there,” Hill said. “This will not be tolerated.”
Brownwood Police Chief Terry Nichols said the two agencies working together has proven to be successful once again. “We are stronger together. You can see the volume of drug use in this neighborhood and with all of us, we were quick to jump on this.”
Nichols is encouraging the community to contact law enforcement if they are aware of illegal activity. “Reach out to us. Call us. We will come. As you see today, we will come.” Nichols also encouraged the community using Crime Stoppers if they do not want to call dispatch directly. Nichols said that although the weight seized was a minor amount, it is not always about the numbers. “Sometimes, the smaller numbers make just as big of an impact,” Nichols said. “It destroys our community and we are taking a hard stance on this. We will use a lot of resources to target people who traffic narcotics in Brown County.”
The Early Police Department and a member of the Texas Rangers also assisted with the serving of the warrant.
