Officers with the Early Police Department responded to an apartment in the 1000 block Early Blvd. Sunday after receiving a call regarding a strong odor coming from an apartment. Officer Andre Smoot detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from an apartment. Smoot made contact with Ashley Pruitt, who stated she had smoke marijuana Saturday, but there was no marijuana in the residence at that time. Pruitt denied Smoot permission to search the apartment, according to the report. Smoot removed another occupant and a child from the residence. A search warrant was obtained from Judge Sam Moss. Officers asked Pruitt and the other occupant, Zachary Withrow if there were drugs in the home. Both stated “yes”, but claimed to not know where the drugs were. After a search, officers located marijuana and marijuana candy, including gummies, cookies and other paraphernalia. Withrow and Pruitt were arrested for possession of marijuana in a drug free zone and possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, more than four ounces, in a drug free zone.

In other business:
• Officer Smoot stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Live Oak Dr. for a traffic violation. After a vehicle search, Kylee Rittiner was placed under arrest after surrendering a bag of marijuana from her bra.
