Fred B. Oakes age 91 of Abilene, Texas passed from this life on Friday, June 29, 2018 at his residence in Abilene.

Services will be Monday at 9:30 am graveside at the Santa Anna Cemetery with his nephew Rev. Jasper McClellan officiating with interment to follow. Memorial services will be Monday at 2:00 pm at the First Central Presbyterian Church of Abilene with Rev. Cliff Stewart officiating. Services are under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.

He was born Fred Byron Oakes the youngest of nine children born to James Turner and Lora Edna Williams Oakes on June 21, 1927 in Santa Anna, Texas. Fred was raised in Santa Anna graduating from Santa Anna High School in 1946 and continued his education at Daniel Baker College in Brownwood receiving his Bachelor Degree.

He was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Anna and a resident of Abilene since 1997 moving there from Dallas following his retirement. Fred was the Finance Manager for Supreme Beef until his retirement.
