Chester Lowe Sides

Chester Lowe Sides, of Coleman, passed away on October 7th, 2018. He was the son of L.D. and Martha Ann Crossland Sides and was born on July 1, 1927 in Valera, Texas. He was the youngest of 10 children.

He attended the Anderson School in north Coleman County and Coleman High School. He married the love of his life, Thelma Blanton, on February 9th, 1950, in Coleman, Texas. He was a rancher/farmer and retired from 3M Corporation, Brownwood, after 25 years of service. He also worked at one time in the oil field, as both a roughneck and driller. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Coleman, and the Unity Sunday School. His passion was his family and ranching.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Thelma Blanton Sides, his son and daughter-in-law, Monte and Ami Sides of Coleman, his daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Harvey McBee of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Jennifer Sides Stool (Justin), Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, Kelli Sides Carpenter (Deke), Lubbock, Texas, Jim Bob Sides, McAllen, Texas, Harvey (Trey) McBee III (Jayme), Richmond, Texas, Kathleen McBee, Sugar Land, Texas, Audrey McBee, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Gabrielle McBee, New Orleans, Louisiana. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Case, Ryland, and Sydni Carpenter, Lubbock, Texas, Paige Stool, Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, and Harvey (Drew) McBee IV, Richmond, Texas. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Barbara (Bill) Sides of Fort Worth, Texas and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are his grandsons Jim Bob Sides and Harvey (Trey) McBee III, his grandsons-in-law, Justin Stool and Deke Carpenter, his great-grandson, Case Carpenter, and his nephew Fred Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Simmons, Ryland Carpenter and Drew McBee.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., October 9, at Stevens Funeral Home, located at 400 W. Pecan Street in Coleman.

The funeral will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 10, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will be in Coleman Cemetery, Rev. John Stanislaw and Dr. Chas Shira, officiating.
