The Brownwood City Council will meet at 9 a.m. today. One of the first orders of business will be the council possibly approving, on second, third and final reading, changing the zone classification of property in the 2900 block of Coggin Avenue from Single-Family Residential District to Local Business District. If approved, this will allow Cullen Sliger to move his business, which once relocated, will be called Sliger’s Hometown Market. In other business, the council will consider:
•Authorizing mayor Stephen Haynes to sign an agreement and any subsequent addendums, amendments and acceptance of additional funds during the contract for the Senior Nutrition Program Contrador Funding agreement for the senior citizens center and home delivered meals.
•Possible approval of the meet and confer agreement between the city and the Brownwood Municipal Police Association.
•Possible approval of an ordinance on first reading that will update the salary, longevity pay and certification pay for firefighters and police officers.
•Possible approval of a resolution declaring certain fire department equipment as surplus.
•Possible approval of a bid for an HVAC unit at city hall
The council will also receive reports regarding historic building codes review, sports tourism and utility billing write-offs.
