Charles R. Hoskins Sr., 72, of Rio Vista, passed from this life to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Life Care Nursing and Rehabilitation in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Services will be Saturday, October 27 at Rockwood Cemetery Pavilion at 1 p.m. Burial will follow under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home.
He was born Charles Raymond Hoskins on April 28, 1946 in San Antonio to Harold Raymond and Rosalie Bertha Hansen Hoskins. Charles was raised in Corpus Christi, graduating from Miller High School. He continued his education at the University of Houston and Texas Christian University. On December 28, 1974, Charles married Sherry Janice Caldwell in Houston and they celebrated 43 years of marriage. He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha fraternity and was a professional tenor singer, having performed at Carnegie Hall and numerous other venues. Charles was a resident of Rio Vista since 2016, moving there from Conroe and was a member of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church. He worked in trucking at his family’s business. He taught voice at Mt. Hood College in Portland, Oregon and was a deputy sheriff for Johnson County until his retirement.
Charles is survived by wife Sherry; daughter, Heather Renee and husband William Chrisman of Arlington; son, Charles Hoskins Jr. and wife Angel of Cleburn and half-sister, Jan Henderson of Dublin. He is also survived by one niece, five nephews and seven grandchildren.
