Sales tax allocations continue to grow in Brown County

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he has sent cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $711.7 million in local sales tax allocations for March, 6.1 percent more than in March 2018.

Bangs received a monthly payment of $10,933, an 8.35% increase over this same time period a year ago of $10,090. Year to date, Bangs has received $36,954, compared to last year’s payment of $37,020, a .17% decrease.

Blanket has received a monthly allocation of $1,862, a slight .36% decrease over last year during this same time period of $1,869. Year to date, Blanket has received $7,646, a 12.20% increase over last year’s to date total of $6,814.

Brownwood is continuing to see growth after some down months in 2018. They received a monthly allocation of $429,663, compared to last year’s payment during this same period of $377,865, a 13.70% increase. Year-to date, Brownwood has received $1,430,436, a 4.13% increase over last year’s total of $1,373,645, a 4.13% increase.

The City of Early received a monthly payment of $84,924, compared to a monthly payment of $80,035 during this same period last year, a 6.10% increase. Year to date, Early has received $275,951, an 8.96% increase over last year’s to date total of $253,253.

These allocations are based on sales made in January by businesses that report tax monthly.
