Late Friday morning sirens were wailing in Early and Brownwood as law enforcement officers pursued a subject in a high speed chase.  What started as an attempted traffic stop with a man, possibly armed, turned into a chase which started north of Early on Highway 183.  The chase proceeded west on Commerce into Brownwood at speeds of 70 to 80 mph.  The chase wound its way into the downtown area on Main, Fisk and eventually to a residential area in the 400 block of Pecos Street, not far from the Coliseum.  The man was arrested without incident, according to information gathered at the scene.    The Brown County Sheriff’s Department is in charge of the investigation.  Law enforcement began leaving the scene about 12:30 pm Friday.
