The following calls were answered by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department and included in the reports on April 8th and 9th.
Deputies performed a traffic stop on a white cargo van in Bangs, Texas. The driver and passenger were identified. Officers observed several factors recognized as possible indicators of illicit trafficking and a consent search was performed. The 2 occupants were released after nothing was found on the search. On 11/8/2018, a Deputy observed the same van and driver travelling eastbound on US
67/377 in Brown County, and the information was forwarded to Comanche Police.
A man was arrested on an outstanding Texas Pardons and Parole Warrant. During a search of the man incident to the warrant arrest, a glass pipe, which contained a white powder residue, was located in his pant’s pocket. A presumptive methamphetamine field test on the white powder residue tested positive for methamphetamine. In addition to the Parole Warrant, the man was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance <1 gram in a Drug Free Zone.
On April 6, 2019 a Brown County Deputy was dispatched to Highway 279 in Brown County at Big G Grocery Store. This was in regards to a Criminal Trespass Warning. Upon arrival, the Deputy met with the assistant manager who said a man was inside the store disturbing the customers. The manager requested the man be served a Criminal Trespass Warning. A report was taken.
On April 6, 2019 a Deputy was dispatched to the Brown County Jail in regards to an assault between 2 inmates. A report was taken.
On Friday, April 5, 2019 a Brown County Lieutenant attempted to conduct a traffic stop in order to check on the welfare of a man, due to receiving a call on him being suicidal. The man led deputies on a vehicle pursuit which ended in Brownwood at a private residence. The man kept deputies in a standoff for about 23 minutes before he exited his vehicle and was taken into custody.
On April 7, 2019 a Deputy was dispatched to West 67 in Bangs. This was in regards to an unwanted person. The Deputy met with a woman who said a man had slashed her mother’s tire to her vehicle and left prior to the officer arriving. A report was taken.
On April 8, 2019 a Brown County Deputy responded to County Road 604 Brownwood for a report of criminal mischief. Information was gathered and report was made.
