After being in operation for 129 years, Coleman County Commissioners met Monday morning, April 22, 2019 and took action to close the original Coleman County Jail which dates back to 1890.   Coleman County built a new 48 bed county jail in and law enforcement center in 2018 which opened earlier this year.   By their action Monday morning to close the historic facility, minutes of the Commission meeting will be sent to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards and they will act to close the facility since it is no longer in service.

In other business, Commissioners voted to leave the Burn Ban off at this time.
