A Cross Plains man lost his life in a wreck Tuesday afternoon, April 23, during rain on Highway 36, approximately 17 miles southeast of Abilene.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety report, Narendrakumar Bhakta, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The report states Bhakta’s vehicle hydroplaned and crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a Freightliner truck, towing a trailer.  The truck driver from Uvalde was treated and released.  The crash is under investigation.
