Improvements could be coming to Riverside Park in Brownwood.

The Brownwood Municipal Development District Board has approved up to $100,000 toward improvements at Riverside Park in Brownwood.   The Brownwood City Council must now give its approval before the project can proceed.

“Back last summer, when the MDD was working in our annual budget workshop, my board suggested that it might be a good idea, since an MDD can invest in park improvements as quality of life improvements, to budget some money to do some improvements at a park,” said Ray Tipton, Executive Director of the BMDD.  It was mentioned in the meeting that the proposal includes playground equipment. “We ended up sending out requests for proposals from some companies that do that kind of work and we’ve going through those proposals and narrowed it down to what would be something unique to add to Riverside Park and something that would be fun and within the budget,” Tipton said.  Staff wanted a nature oriented venue with a good combination of play value and uniqueness.

The Brownwood City Council will meet Tuesday, May 14, and consider putting their blessings on the project.  Once approved by the City Council, architectural renderings of the plans will be made available to the public.
