News release from Brown Co. S.O. 9:40 am Tuesday

On Sunday, May 12, 2019, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a vehicle was swept off County Road 257 at the 10 Mile Crossing. The vehicle was occupied by three persons. Lynn Leonard (29) and Kathy Armendarez (40) were able to get out of the vehicle. It is unknown at this time if the third person, Susan Smith (59), was able to exit the vehicle.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a missing person investigation for Susan Smith. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Texas Department of Wildlife, the Brownwood Fire Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Early Fire Department, the Lake Bridge Fire Department, and Air Evac.
