Search for Missing Woman Resumed Tuesday at 10 Mile Crossing

The search has resumed at 10 Mile Crossing for Susan Smith of Mills County and a pickup missing since flood waters swept them away 17 days ago.  Two others in the pickup survived.

In a statement late Tuesday from Brown County Emergency Management Chief, David Creed, Texas Dept. of Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens Tuesday morning resumed physical and visual searches of the river area south of 10 Mile Crossing utilizing all-terrain vehicles (ATV), aerial drones equipped with high-resolution cameras and boats equipped with side-scanning sonar.  Recovery efforts will continue as long as weather and water conditions allow.  Search last week was suspended when the Bayou rose again after heavy rain.

Creed said barricades remain in place across access points on County Rd. 257 to maintain safety integrity for recovery personnel working in the area and motorists choosing to disregard the barricades may be subject to criminal prosecution.
