Unoccupied Rural Home Destroyed by Fire Wednesday Morning

The Early Fire Department responded to a house fire at 5:00 am Wednesday, June 26, at 7900 County Road 292.  The location is several miles southeast of Early on Jenkins Springs Road.

According to Early Fire Chief, Chad Hill, the home had mostly burned to the ground by the time firemen arrived.  They brought the remaining flames under control with the help of a backhoe operator who removed tin from the log cabin type home.

Brownwood Fire Marshal, Buddy Preston, is investigating and trying to determine what caused the fire.  According to Preston, the homeowners live in the Metroplex and use the home as a weekend getaway.  Preston said the fire was discovered by an employee of Comanche Electric Coop who was responding to a power failure reported at the home at 3:44 am.
