Coleman Co. Lawmen Searching for Escaped Inmate

As of 10:00 am Thursday, a Coleman County Jail inmate was still at large.  According to Sheriff Les Cogdill, it was between 6:00 and 6:30 pm Wednesday evening that Mary Diane Abbas escaped from Coleman County Medical Center.  She was there for treatment of an illness.  According to surveillance video, she was able to somehow sneak out of the Emergency Room doors to freedom and then was seen going north from the hospital.  She was wearing orange and white jail issued clothing.  Coleman officers were joined in the search Wednesday night by Brown County officers, DPS and Texas Rangers.  According to Coleman County Jail records, Abbas was arrested Thursday, September 19, 2019 on bond forfeiture Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance with a bond of $30,000.  Abbas is described as 5′ 03″, 135 pounds, brown hair, blue eyes, tattoo on the left ankle.
